Everyday as we live and interact with the world, we are presented with numerous options regarding what to say, what to eat, where to go, who to associate with, what to learn, etc. Making choices amongst so many options can be daunting task, especially when one does not have a clear-cut sense of purpose.
In our opening text today, Apostle Paul admits that many options seem good and desirable at first impression, but not all are profitable. In other words, though He is free to choose at will, he would only choose the things that add value to him, in line with his purpose. This is intentional living.
Some persons get stuck in decision making because they have not been able to determine their purpose, and spell out the values upon which they intend to build. Being intentional means acting with a purpose or plan in mind, rather than simply going through the motions or reacting to circumstances. It involves being mindful and deliberate in your thoughts, words, and actions.
Thus, when you are intentional, you take control of your life and make decisions that align with your values and goals.
However, to be intentional, it is important to begin by defining your goals and priorities. Consider what is most important to you and what you want to accomplish in your life. Then, take steps to align your everyday decisions with those values and goals. This way, you would be able to minimize distractions, overlook temptations, and avoid interruptions to your plans.
Overall, being intentional can help you live a more meaningful and fulfilling life, as you maximize your time, and actively work towards creating the life God ordained for you.
