Acts 16:25-26, KJV
“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed.”
As believers, its common that when life puts us in painful or challenging situations, our natural reaction is often to focus on the problem, to worry, or even to struggle to find a way out. For many of us, praising God may not come to mind when we’re feeling trapped or distressed. In those moments, the heaviness of our circumstances can make it hard to think of anything other than finding relief. We may feel like there’s nothing we can do, or that God seems distant in this trouble.
When Paul and Silas found themselves beaten and chained in prison, they responded in an unexpected way—they prayed and praised God. Instead of crying out in despair or seeking to escape, they lifted their voices in songs of praise. Our opening scripture reveals what happened next- their praise activated God’s power and led to their miraculous deliverance. This account shows us that even in the darkest situations, praising God has the power to change things. Paul and Silas’s focus was not on their pain but on God, who is greater than any circumstance. When we, too, choose to praise God in our struggles, we open the door for His presence and power to bring deliverance.
Are you facing a difficult or seemingly hopeless situation? Instead of letting fear or despair take over, turn your heart toward God in praise. Thank Him, even in the midst of your challenges, and recognize His ability to save and deliver. As you praise Him, expect that He will move on your behalf and bring you the victory. Hallelujah!

PRAYER FOR A NATION
BRAZIL
Since 1931, a 120-foot tall statue of Jesus with his arms outstretched and his head angled downward toward the city of Rio de Janeiro has stood at the top of the 2,300-foot Corcovado mountain. Down below in the city, however, Jesus’ presence is less visible. Though more than 74% of the country’s people identify themselves as Roman Catholic and another 16% identify themselves as Christian, Brazil is a nation struggling with nominalism and spiritism. Also, out of the 200 million people in the nation, 40 million Brazilians live below the poverty line. Within these slums, hundreds of thousands of street children find themselves trapped in drug addiction, prostitution, and violence, and many suffer from AIDS.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for unity amongst the churches in this land to work together and join resources to reach the unsaved in the nation in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR THE LEADERS
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that You will grant the leaders of this nation, the ability to distinguish between righteous counsel and the deceitful counsels of the wicked. Surround them with righteous men and women who will give them sound advice in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we pray for unity in Israel. We ask that you break down walls of division and cause love and understanding to begin to grow in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father, we pray that every attempt of hell to sabotage and discredit the Church will not stand in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that pour out your Spirit mightily upon the lost and unsaved souls in our city so that many would begin to receive the Gospel that we preach in Jesus Name.
