Romans 16:17 – Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Over the years, the Pastoral Ministry has been infiltrated by people with various values and purposes. This has greatly aroused strife and divisions in the body of Christ and made it more difficult to identify the right kind of Pastors.
There are different kinds of Pastors, as revealed to us in the Scriptures. There are false Pastors, the likes of Simon in Acts 8:9, who practiced magic and bewitched people. There are fake Pastors; those who fake preachings and miracles, and those whose gods are their bellies, as seen in 1 Kings 22:22 and Philippians 3:18-19. There are also flimsy Pastors; genuine Pastors who bear the form of godliness but deny the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:5), either because they are fearful, uninformed, or offended. And finally, there are fiery Pastors; those who do not compromise but depend absolutely on God, in the fulfillment of their assignment.
So, while we should not neglect the Ministry of a Pastor as the world would do, we should be able to separate and select the right kind of Pastors that we can connect to, in order to enjoy the benefits that God has in store for us in the Pastoral Ministry. Hallelujah!
