CREATE TIME TO REST

1 Kings 19:4-‬5
“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat

In our opening text today, we find the Prophet Elijah in a state of exhaustion and despair after a great victory over the Prophets of Baal. God’s response to Elijah’s despair was both compassionate and practical as He sent an angel to provide food and shelter encouraging him to eat and rest.

There is wisdom in recognizing our limits and honouring the necessity of rest. The Bible teaches us that there is time for everything. So, just as there is time to work, there is also time to rest. Such times of bodily rest also provide you with the opportunity to rest in God, which means communing with God and meditating on His promises as you rest, giving you the opportunity to be refreshed with guidance by His Spirit.

Therefore, learn this wisdom of rest, so that you can practice it and turn moments of exhaustion into a time of refreshing. Glory to God!

DAILY PRAYER GUIDE

Father, I thank you for opening my eyes to your truth today, I ask for grace to acknowledge when I am weary and to seek the renewal that only you can provide in Jesus Name.

Prayer for a Nation-ANGUILLA

Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. The last census in Anguilla lists Christianity as the country’s largest religion but this strong Christian tradition did not always exist on the Island, but grew under the influence of missionaries and converts who had found Christianity before settling in Anguilla. However, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and Rastafarians make up most of the minority denominations on the island.

Prayer for the Nation
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for the outpour of your Spirit upon this nation, that the nation and its people may experience a renewal in every ramification, in the name of Jesus.

Prayer for the Leaders
Father in the name of Jesus, we pray that you give unto the leaders of the nation the wisdom and foresight to steer the affairs of the nation aright with righteousness, judgment and justice.

Prayer for Israel
Father, we ask that You comfort and strengthen the nation of Israel in this season, that in the midst of adversity, they may find courage to stand for Your name.

Prayer for the Unity of the Church

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for your unending love towards us. Give us a large heart to accommodate one another in love and understanding in Jesus Name.

Prayer for Souls/Revival
Father in the name of Jesus, we ask for the outpour of your Spirit upon our cities, that we may overcome the barriers and the resistance against the Gospel, that many may come to the true light of the Lord Jesus Christ.
