To sacrifice is to give up something of value to you, for the sake of a greater good, and often, a sacrifice is something that is difficult to give, and in our opening text today, the Bible makes mention of a new kind of sacrifice that you need to begin to make, so you can have unending victory in your life. That is the sacrifice of joy.

In a time of turbulence and constant attacks from his enemies, the Psalmist speaks of a line of action that is uncommon. He chose to offer sacrifices of joy, singing and praising the LORD because he perceived that the LORD would lift his head above his enemies, though they surrounded him at the time. In the face of imminent threat, he chose to praise the LORD; that is a sacrifice!

Your decision to consciously meditate on what God has done and give Him thanks regardless of prevalent circumstances is what the sacrifice of joy is. It is called a sacrifice because it is not palatable to the flesh, but we already know that praise gets God on the scene.

Therefore, in the face of challenges you may face today, choose to give what it takes to maintain joy in your heart, by consciously meditating on what God has done until you see clearly what He can do in your situation. Then begin to praise His name and declare His faithfulness. Then, get ready for testimony because He will come through for you as you give a sacrifice of joy.
