“Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
John 15:2
Although it is God’s plan for believers to be fruitful, there seems to be many that are not bearing fruits. In our scriptural text today, we see that there are those who do not bear fruits and there are those that bear fruits. Those who do not bear fruits are taken away, or cut off from the tree, while those who do, are purged or cleansed that they may bring forth more fruit.
In other words, God is very particular about us being fruitful and making impact. We are God’s plantings and we see in our text, that He does not take fruitlessness lightly (Isaiah 61:3). We see more of this character when Jesus cursed the fig tree because He found no fruit on it (Luke 12:6).
As a great investor that God is, He invests more on branches that bear fruits, while those that do not, He takes away. Therefore, you should also treat your fruitfulness with all seriousness and become very deliberate, about yielding much fruit in the Kingdom. Remember, God looks out for fruitful branches and invests in them. Glory to God!
