Luke 4:16
“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”
The things we do as a matter of habit, points to what we value and hold in high esteem. Those who walk in obedience to God show how dearly they love God and esteem His word. A believer, who cannot obey God’s instructions or struggles to do the word, shows that his attention isn’t really to please Him.
Our text today shows us one of the habits that Jesus possessed. He entered into the synagogue to preach every Sabbath. This habit was consistent with His purpose on earth. At other times, the Bible recorded that He excused Himself to find time alone with God in prayer (Mark 1:35). These were some of the habits of Christ. No wonder He walked on water, raised the dead, and saved humanity.
You too can develop the habit of walking in obedience to God’s instructions and thus walk in the glory of God like Jesus did. Have you been called to intercession, soulwinning or teaching of the word? Have you been faithful? Note that obedience to God can cause you to live in ceaseless favor. Begin today to cultivate habits that would elevate you into the place of favor with God. It is not too late to start!
