“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”
1 Peter 5:6
One of the primary desires of everyone is to be exalted or promoted by God. Many desire promotions in different areas of their lives. However, our scriptural text shows us the criteria to receive this promotion. If you will be exalted, you must humble yourself. Thus, humility is a necessity for God to exalt or increase you. But what is humility?
Humility is aligning yourself with the Word of God. It is submitting to God’s Word in every area of your life. It is the determination to comply with the Word of God, regardless of your feelings and emotions and circumstances. Also, the higher you go, the more humble you should be. This is because every time you make advancement in life or are promoted, the tendency for you to fall increases. Therefore, as you increase in height, decrease in your heart! When humility is in place in our lives, we receive God’s favor, and are protected by the hand of God. Halleluyah.
Having known and understood the role of humility in your life, you must be determined to be planted in humility. This will determine how high you can rise in God. Spend time to meditate and consider areas of your life you need to make adjustments. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and He will.
