REMAIN FERVENT IN PROSPERITY

Deuteronomy 8:11-14
“Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgements, and his statues, which I command thee this day: lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied; then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.”

One of the most important disciplines that a believer must cultivate is that of seeking after God and pursuing His will even in times of prosperity. Many will pray and seek the face of God in times of trouble, but few will do the same when the answer they desire has already been granted. This is a trap you must not allow the devil lure you into.

The story of the Israelites in the wilderness serves as a caution. After God miraculously delivered them from Egypt, showered them with manna, and guided them towards the Promised Land, their hearts began to stray; from forgetfulness to idolatry and disobedience, unto the path of destruction. Yet, the Bible also shows us others who held onto their faith despite wealth and comfort, like King David, who despite immense power and riches, remained a passionate worshiper and a faithful leader even as his kingdom prospered (2Sam. 22). This shows that you can maintain focus on God even in times of prosperity.

Thus, you must be resolved to keep the flames of our faith burning brightly regardless of the state you find yourself. In times of difficulties, seek the Lord, and when prosperity comes, cling unto Him still. Remain passionate about building your walk with God and pursuing after Him with all your heart, knowing that He is the Source and Sustainer of every good and perfect gift in your life. Glory to God!

However, despite such a strong Church presence, Timor-Leste is a troubled place: one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia, some 46 percent of East Timorese have never received any formal education. More than one-third of its population faces food shortages on a regular basis. Additionally, this nation has one of the world’s most traumatic recent histories.

Prayer for the nation:
Father in the name of Jesus, help me not to forget that I need you every day, even in my times of comfort and prosperity. Help me to prioritize you always, in Jesus Name.

Prayer for the leaders:

Father, in the name of Jesus we ask for boldness to rest upon the leaders of this nation that they will begin to make laws that favour the cause of the Gospel, in the name of Jesus.

Father in the name of Jesus, we ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Ps 122:6)

Father in the name of Jesus, we bind every spirit that keeps the people in our nation bound in darkness, and we set them free by the power of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ name.
