Colossians 3:2- Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

As a believer, it is important to recognize that faith and worldliness can not coexist. If your faith is to withstand the trials and temptations of the enemy, you must actively resist the pull of worldly desires. This means that your appetite for the things of this world must die if you truly desire to walk in faith.

The popular saying, “you cannot eat your cake and have it,” applies here; you can not be committed to both the church and the world simultaneously.For example, there is nothing inherently wrong with going to the beach, but if it replaces time you should spend praying, or on outreach, it becomes an issue. The problem arises when these activities become more important to you than your spiritual growth and responsibilities.

Therefore, build your strength of character needed to say “NO” to worldly temptations. You must make a conscious decision to set your affections on things above, and not on the things of the earth. By doing this, you are allowing yourself be a light by which others are drawn to Christ. Hallelujah!

◾START-UP PRAYER
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we ask that you will help us to discern the things of this world that distract us from our walk with you. Fill us with a deep hunger for the the things of the spirit and the courage to say no to wordy temptations in the Name of Jesus.

◾PRAYER FOR A NATION:
AUSTRALIA
Traditionally, a Christian nation with freedom of religion, Australia is becoming increasingly secular. While the majority of the population still claims to be Christian, only 10% attend church regularly.The Church is being challenged by a New Age, self-created spirituality, and more people are developing negative attitudes toward the Church.

◾Prayer for the Nation:
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we pray for the burden of souls to rest upon the churches in Australia so that they would step out fervently to take the land for your Name in the Name of Jesus.

◾Prayer for the Leaders:
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for the leaders who are unsaved, and we ask that they experience the majesty of your power and thereby surrender to your Lordship, in Jesus’ Name

◾Prayer for Israel:
Oh Lord, we ask in the Name of Jesus that you cause Israel to be victorious against her enemies in the Name of Jesus name.

◾Prayer for the Unity of the Church:
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we rebuke the spirit of competition amongst us and we ask that you pour out your spirit afresh upon us in the Name of Jesus.

◾Prayer for Souls/Revival:
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we ask for your spirit to rest upon the unsaved soul so that they would be able to deny the flesh and turn fully to the Lord in the Name of Jesus.
