Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth
1Timothy 4:3
Thanksgiving separates us and the object of our thanksgiving unto God. It is a declaration that the one being ‘thanked’ is the source of the object of your thanksgiving. When we pray the prayer of thanksgiving, we are declaring that God is the owner or source of the object for which we are thanking. God is the Creator of all things and He didn’t make anything that was bad in itself except that some things got bad as result of man’s rebellion.
Paul in the above scripture addressed a false doctrine that forbade people from eating certain kinds of meat. This still happens in various parts of the world today where people forbid certain animals to be eaten. However, from the beginning it was not so, for God made all animals and called them good (Gen 1:24). Paul therefore establishes that all meats can be eaten if received with thanksgiving by those who know the truth.
Based on this truth, consciously begin to practice thanking God for something specific or a particular situation in your life using His word. When you do so, your thanksgiving would sanctify that situation or that thing unto God. The declaration of your thanksgiving sanctifies and purifies that object unto God, as from God, making it good and prefect because only good and perfect gifts come from Him.
