I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30
To magnify means to make something big; like a magnifying glass in a laboratory. When something is magnified, it does not become big in an actual sense;rather it becomes big to our sight. The psalmist in our scripture text shows us that thanksgiving magnifies God. This means that thanksgiving reinstates God to be bigger than one’s problem, situation or mindset.
Magnification here relates with visibility. Something can be very big yet not very visible. God is so big beyond what we could ever imagine, yet our doubt and fears can make us lose sight of Him, making Him almost invisible Thanksgiving therefore magnifies God to us; making Him more visible to us than our situation or challenges.
The main aim of our challenges is to take our attention from God and lose sight of His ability. The enemy wants his lies to be the focus of our hearts. We defeat this strategy through thanksgiving;- magnifying God through thanksgiving gives us the victory over every lie of devil. Glory to God!
