Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
It’s so amazing the wondrous things that God provided for us in His Word. Our scripture text reveals that when our requests are taken to God with thanksgiving, we are ushered in the peace of God. The word ‘peace‘ is the hebrew word “shalom”, which means ‘nothing missing, nothing broken’; a state of wholeness. This indicates that thanksgiving takes us into a place of perfection and wholeness – a place where we lack nothing.
We see this clearly portrayed in the story of the lepers who came to Jesus to be healed (Luke 17:12-19). Ten of them were cleansed but only one of them returned to give thanks to God; and he was made whole. The thanksgiving of several believers today is missing from the throne of God, and He is constantly asking, “Were there not ten I blessed, where are the nine?”
Unknown to those who fail to give thanks, perfection and completion is only meant for those who come back in gratitude. Thanksgiving finishes and perfects the blessings of God in our lives and causes the grace of God to increase in us. Thank You Lord!
