THE POWER OF LIFTED HANDS

2Psalm 141:2” Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”

The lifting of hands is a very important prayer posture that every believer ought to learn and practice. It is a spiritual posture that allows you to connect with heaven in the place of prayer. Thus, the Apostle Paul admonishes believers everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands (1Tim. 2:8).

Beyond the physical lifting up of hands, this spiritual posture is a metaphor for intercessory prayer, just as our opening scripture today shows us. Whenever we go to God in intercession, spiritually our hands are lifted, showing our dependency on Him and passionate call for His help and intervention in that which concerns us and others.

As you stand in the place of prayer today, remember to lift your hands in prayer for your fellow believers, especially those under persecution, those in authority, and those that you lead. Ask the Lord to grant them strength and wisdom to emerge victorious in every circumstance, and that their faith may be strengthened to the praise and glory of God. Amen.

Father in the name of Jesus, we ask that the plan of the enemy over the unity of the Church be scattered. Cause us to stand as one in your will, in Jesus’ Name.
