“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Psalms 119:11
Our opening Scripture clearly shows us an amazing secret to living a life that is above sin; it is retaining or keeping the Word in the heart. The Word of God has the ability to keep or preserve, thus when you keep it in your heart, it can restrain you from sin. But how does one keep the Word in the heart?
You do this by meditating on the Word. We live in a world with a lot of distractions that take our focus away from God’s Word. But if you will live a sanctified life, you ought to prioritize meditation of the Word. King David understood this so much that he meditated on the law of God all day long. He kept God in his thoughts, through the study of His Word throughout the day. (Psalms 119:97)
So, as you embark on your daily activities, it is important to cultivate the attitude of keeping God’s word in your heart by meditating on it. His Word in your heart will automatically repel wrong thoughts and ultimately set you on the right path in life. Glory to God!
