1 Timothy 1:18 KJV
“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare.”
It is common for many to feel burdened by unfulfilled promises of God. Though they carry prophecies over their lives and are rich in spiritual blessings, they see no physical manifestation. Over time, this can lead to discouragement, causing them to lose faith. However, just having a promise from God is not enough—it requires action. As Paul admonished Timothy, we are called to war with the prophecies spoken over us. This shows that we can either fight poorly, or not fight at all. Sadly, many find themselves in this exact position.
The Bible tells us that while heaven belongs to God, He has given the earth to humanity (Psalm 115:16). So, when you receive a prophecy, it remains in the heavenly realm (Ephesians 1:3) until you actively pull it down through prayer. Elijah, a man like us, prayed earnestly, and his prayers brought about significant change—holding back rain for three and a half years (James 5:17). This example illustrates the power of prayer in enforcing God’s will on earth. Prayer not only activates angels on our behalf but gives God the legal right to intervene.
Therefore, if you have a prophecy but haven’t seen its manifestation, it is imperative to engage in spiritual warfare through prayer. Refuse to be discouraged or to give up. Meditate on the promises God has given you, build your faith through studying His Word, confess your prophecies, and press on until the words spoken over you come to pass. The battle must be fought—so stand up and fight!
