“Scriptural Text: Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)
“Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay”
No matter how strong a fire is, it requires fuel to stay alive, and wood is one of the earliest examples of fuel used to keep a fire burning. In the same way, the Holy Spirit is the fire of God, and to be baptized with the Spirit is to receive the fire of God. Nonetheless, to stay on fire, we must keep the fire burning, which means we would be requiring fuel.
In our opening text today, we see that Jeremiah was about lose the fire because of the persecution he faced, but the Bible shows us that he found reinforcement for the fire by the word of God that was in his heart. This is because the word of God is a fuel for the fire of God.
Many believers have lost their fire because they have lost contact with the wood. Fire grows in the presence of wood. So also, when you meditate on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit fills you up thus increasing the fire that burns in you.
Therefore, to be on fire for God, you have to conclude on meditation as your live wire. It must be your life, your food, your drink so as to consume your thoughts. Nothing can set you on fire like the word of God. Therefore, go for meditation and get on fire!
