Job 1:8
_And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?_
Principles are standards set by men to define the boundaries of their characters. So, a man’s principles ultimately determine his character, and his character eventually determines his actions.
As dear children of God, called out of darkness into light, we ought to walk daily in the new light we have been brought into by renouncing the works of darkness and going even further to cultivate the attitude of abstaining from evil as a principle. Job was a very good example of such a man in the Scriptures, as our opening text shows us that he feared God and (therefore) hated evil as a principle.
Now, take a moment to consider this: What principles are you fondly known for in your community or social circles? Can you be described as someone who “fears God” and “hates” evil? So, just as Jesus admonished, let your light begin to shine before men, that they may see your good works (and how much you detest evil), and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16). Halleluyah!
