Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Matthew 7:21
On service days, many churches are filled with people gathered to worship God, but how many out of that large number of people truly do the will of God? It is so heart breaking to note that some folks just want to fulfil all righteousness by attending church services but afterwards, live their lives on their terms. Our service to God goes beyond congregating to worship God; it goes beyond professing that Jesus is our Lord, to actually doing the will of the father.
From our opening text, Jesus explicitly speaks of what will befall someone who is deceived into thinking that he is a disciple of Christ and yet is not, or one who thinks he knows God, only to discover on judgment day that God doesn’t know him- because he did not live his life doing the will of the Father and as such is not recognized by God as His son or daughter. The will of God is displayed everywhere in the Bible, and we also have the Holy Ghost who speaks to us, communicating the will of the Father concerning every area of our lives. It is thus imperative for us to live our lives in accordance to the will of God.
Whether you will be given access in God’s kingdom or you will be sent away (Matthew 7:22-23) is solely dependent on you. Hence, do not give into self-deceit, rather choose to live a life of genuine obedience to God and on the day of reckoning, you will be ushered into the kingdom of God because you truly obeyed the will of the Father. Glory to God!
