OVERCOMING THE POWER OF FEAR

SCRIPTURAL TEXT:  GENESIS 2:5

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

September 14th

In our opening scripture, we see that God decided not to finish his creation until he had created mankind to labor alongside (or under) Him. As a result, tilling the earth is the first step in exercising lordship/dominion. We can see from this that God’s use of the word ‘subdue’ and ‘dominion’ in Genesis chapter 1 does not provide us permission to trample all over his creation; quite the contrary.

Subduing the planet entails utilizing and safeguarding its diverse resources. Dominion over all living creatures is a contract with God to care for them, not a permission to harm them. In the same way, God wants us to serve the best interests of all people whose lives intersect with ours, whether they are our friends, family members, clients, or colleagues. That does not imply that we will allow others to run over us, but it does mean we would not let our own self-interest, self-esteem, or self-aggrandizement give us permission to do so. The work of dominion is the call to stewardship, and faithfulness is the work that is required in stewardship.

If the master finds you faithful, He will cause you to increase in dominion (Matthew 25:23). Therefore, look at that which God has given you, faithfully cultivate it and your dominion will increase.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Dear Father, help me to be a faithful steward in Jesus name.

PRAYER FOR KUWAIT

81% are Muslims. Kuwait’s material wealth has answered few problems. Islamist activity is increasing. Young people are frustrated and very bored. Materialism still holds powerful sway, since many have no greater vision about how to use their wealth for good.

Y: We are praying that the doors of the Gospel be opened in Kuwait.

PRAYER FOR ISRAEL

Father, I ask today that there will be peace in Jerusalem and that your purposes be established in that city. Amen (Ps 122:6).

PRAYER FOR NATIONS/LEADERS

May the President find the right advisors that will give him wise counsel. Expose and remove wrong people around him that are up to no good.

PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH

We pray, oh Lord give the leaders of the church a perfect heart, a heart that continually seeks you in Jesus name.

PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL

Father in the name of Jesus, we ask for the support of angelic beings, saints of old, and a manifestation of the person of Jesus for the evangelization of this city.
