Ephesians 4:7 – But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Just as the various organs of a human body are all important for its growth and effective functioning, the body of Christ has also been blessed with various gifts of Christ, which are meant for its edification.
The Scriptures in Ephesians 4:7-12, show us this. And it clearly emphasizes that apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, are gifts that the Lord has given to the Church, to mature believers, so that they can engage in the work of the Ministry, so that the body of Christ can be properly developed. So, just as the different classes of food are all important to constitute a balanced diet, to nourish the human body; the combination of each of these different offices with their unique graces, is important for the proper formation and development of the body of Christ.
Therefore, as members of Christ, we must recognize and embrace those that function in each of these offices, as precious gifts that the Lord has given to us for our maturation, and holistically, for the complete formation of the body of Christ – the Church. Glory to God!
