“Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”
JOHN 5:14
Looking at our scriptural text for the day, we see Jesus clearly instructing a man who had been healed to ensure he stays away from sin so he does not find himself in a worse condition. What does that say to you; it means that sin has the power to keep us in bondage, sickness, and disease.
Jesus has made the ultimate sacrifice for us and set us free from the power of sin but we also ought to abstain from it. This is because sin gives Satan the right to afflict us. When we indulge in sin, we are opening a door for the power of sin to operate in our lives. Remember, he comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10)
Therefore, if you err or make mistakes, quickly ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse you but do not indulge it, lest a worse thing comes into your life.
