Some believers hold the misconception that salvation grants us unrestricted indulgence. Yet, in our opening text today, Apostle Paul helps us to see both the freedom we have in Christ and the responsibility we bear as believers. While we are free to make choices, our freedom should not enslave us to the desires of the flesh.

In our daily lives, it is important to only seek what is truly beneficial, edifying, and in alignment with God’s will. Rather than allowing ourselves to become captives of our own desires, we are to follow Christ’s example of self-control and righteousness.

Whenever you face temptations in your day, remember the words of our opening scripture and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to make choices that honour God and contribute to your spiritual growth.

Remember that by the power of the Holy Ghost, you can put any appetite of the flesh under subjection and you yield yourself to God’s Word and His will in your life today. Begin by keeping your fire burning, praying in the Holy Ghost, so you may live a life that pleases the Father in all things.
