OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN
“We ought to obey God rather than men.” Act 5:29
Many, because of the fear of man have put God in the back seat of their lives. They prefer to think of what people will say, how people will react, or what they may lose; they seek man’s approval rather than God’s. The fear of man is an entanglement– it hinders a person from obeying the Lord. This action is greatly displeasing to God.
The three Hebrew boys – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were men who stood their ground even at the expense of their lives. They refused to bow to Idols; choosing to obey God’s commandment to never bow to idols or serve other gods. In the end, God was glorified and the Hebrew boys were honored (Daniel 3:16-28).The Word of God admonishes us not to be afraid of those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. You are instead to fear and obey God who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell ( Matthew 10:28).
In whatever you do, the fear of God and not man, must be exalted in your heart and influence all your actions. Therefore choose to obey God rather than men, as this will bring glory to God and in-turn cause God to glorify Himself in and through you.
