Scriptural Text:Philippians 3:13
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”.
In a relay, the athlete who is to receive the baton neither stops nor goes backward to receive it. Instead, he keeps moving forward steadily until the baton is within his grip. Then, he accelerates. Much in the same manner, regardless of what is behind you, it is imperative that you keep moving forward and never backward.
The reason some persons never achieve their goals is because they keep considering their mistakes or errors of the past. Some others bask in the glory of the past, so much that they have lost the drive for greater things. They have become what I call ‘local champions’.
No matter how beautiful or otherwise the past might have been, the future will always be brighter; such is the hope we have in Christ Jesus (Col 1:27). While it is important to learn from the past, we ought to keep our gaze on the future. As long as the center of your thoughts is the past and not the future, you may not make meaningful progress.
Therefore, consider what in your past has stolen your drive to push forward. Now, is the time to divorce such. Your past is past; it is time to look ahead and pursue the glorious future God has for you this year. The Holy Spirit is with you to help you.
